कुमारी चापि पाञ्चाली वेदिमध्यात समुत्थिता सुभगा दर्शनीयाङ्गी वेदिमध्या मनॊरमा ॥ १-१५५-४१ ॥
'And from the center of the sacrificial platform emerged a daughter named Panchali, blessed with great fortune and exquisite beauty.' ॥ 1-155-41 ॥

kumArI cApi pAJcAlI vedimadhyAta samutthitA subhagA darzanIyAGgI vedimadhyA manòramA ॥ 1-155-41 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशयामा पद्मपलाशाक्षी नीलकुञ्चित मूर्धजा मानुषं विग्रहं कृत्वा साक्षाद अमर वर्णिनी ॥ १-१५५-४२ ॥
'Her eyes, black and as large as lotus petals, contrasted with her dark complexion and blue, curly locks, yet embodied the grace of a celestial being.' ॥ 1-155-42 ॥
english translation
zayAmA padmapalAzAkSI nIlakuJcita mUrdhajA mAnuSaM vigrahaM kRtvA sAkSAda amara varNinI ॥ 1-155-42 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनीलॊत्पलसमॊ गन्धॊ यस्याः करॊशात परवायति या बिभर्ति परं रूपं यस्या नास्त्य उपमा भुवि ॥ १-१५५-४३ ॥
'Her body emitted a fragrance reminiscent of a blue lotus, detectable from a distance of two miles. There was no one on earth comparable to her beauty.' ॥ 1-155-43 ॥

nIlòtpalasamò gandhò yasyAH karòzAta paravAyati yA bibharti paraM rUpaM yasyA nAstya upamA bhuvi ॥ 1-155-43 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतां चापि जातां सुश्रॊणीं वाग उवाचाशरीरिणी सर्वयॊषिद वरा कृष्णा कषयं कषत्रं निनीषति ॥ १-१५५-४४ ॥
'Like a celestial herself, she could be desired in marriage by a celestial, a Danava, or a Yaksha.' ॥ 1-155-44 ॥

tAM cApi jAtAM suzròNIM vAga uvAcAzarIriNI sarvayòSida varA kRSNA kaSayaM kaSatraM ninISati ॥ 1-155-44 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसुरकार्यम इयं काले करिष्यति सुमध्यमा अस्या हेतॊः कषत्रियाणां महद उत्पत्स्यते भयम ॥ १-१५५-४५ ॥
'When this girl with fair hips was born, an incorporeal voice said, "This dark-complexioned girl will be the foremost among all women, and she will be the cause of the destruction of many Kshatriyas.' ॥ 1-155-45 ॥
