कषत्रॊच्छेदाय विहितॊ जामदग्न्य इवास्थितः तस्य हय अस्त्रबलं घॊरम अप्रसह्यं नरैर भुवि ॥ १-१५५-२६ ॥
'He resembles a reincarnation of Jamadagnya, destined to eradicate the Kshatriya lineage. No mortal on earth can withstand the formidable might of his weaponry.' ॥ 1-155-26 ॥

बराह्मम उच्चारयंस तेजॊ हुताहुतिर इवानलः समेत्य स दहत्य आजौ कषत्रं बरह्म पुरःसरः बरह्मक्षत्रे च विहिते बरह्मतेजॊ विशिष्यते ॥ १-१५५-२७ ॥
'As a blazing fire fueled by ghee, Drona, wielding the might of Brahman and merging it with Kshatriya prowess, overwhelms every foe in combat. Yet, your inherent Brahmanic power surpasses even Drona's fusion of Brahmanic and Kshatriya might.' ॥ 1-155-27 ॥

सॊ ऽहं कषत्रबलाद धीनॊ बरह्मतेजः परपेदिवान दरॊणाद विशिष्टम आसाद्य भवन्तं बरह्मवित्तमम ॥ १-१५५-२८ ॥
'Hence, being inferior to Drona due to my reliance solely on Kshatriya might, I seek your assistance with your superior Brahmanic power, having found you to be more knowledgeable in Brahma than even Drona.' ॥ 1-155-28 ॥

दरॊणान्तकम अहं पुत्रं लभेयं युधि दुर्जयम तत कर्म कुरु मे याज निर्वपाम्य अर्बुदं गवाम ॥ १-१५५-२९ ॥
'O Yaja, conduct the necessary ritual through which I may be blessed with a son invincible in battle, capable of defeating Drona. I am prepared to offer you ten thousand cattle in return.' ॥ 1-155-29 ॥

तथेत्य उक्ता तु तं याजॊ याज्यार्थम उपकल्पयत गुर्वर्थ इति चाकामम उपयाजम अचॊदयत याजॊ दरॊण विनाशाय परतिजज्ञे तथा च सः ॥ १-१५५-३० ॥
'Upon hearing Drupada's words, Yaja replied, "So be it." He then began to recall the intricate rites necessary for the specific sacrifice. Recognizing the gravity of the matter, he sought the assistance of Upayaja, who desired nothing in return. Yaja pledged to conduct the sacrifice for Drona's destruction.' ॥ 1-155-30 ॥
