नागांश च मातुलांश चैव तथा चान्यान स बान्धवान पितॄंश च तारयाम आस संतत्या तपसा तथा वरतैश च विविधैर बरह्म सवाध्यायैश चानृणॊ ऽभवत ॥ १-१३-४१ ॥
'Astika not only saved the snakes but also secured the welfare of his maternal relatives and other kin, including his ancestors. Through his rigorous penance, numerous vows, and dedicated study of the Vedas, he not only liberated himself but also ensured the well-being of his forefathers. Additionally, by begetting offspring, he brought deliverance to his fathers.'॥ 1-13-41 ॥

देवांश च तर्पयाम आस यज्ञैर विविधदक्षिणैः ऋषींश च बरह्मचर्येण संतत्या च पितामहान ॥ १-१३-४२ ॥
'He pleased the gods through sacrifices involving diverse offerings, won the favor of the sages by following a life of celibacy, and satisfied his ancestors by begetting offspring.'॥ 1-13-42 ॥
english translation
अपहृत्य गुरुं भारं पितॄणां संशितव्रतः जरत्कारुर गतः सवर्गं सहितः सवैः पितामहैः ॥ १-१३-४३ ॥
'Thus Jaratkaru of rigid vows discharged the heavy debt he owed to his sires who being thus relieved from bondage ascended to heaven.'॥ 1-13-43 ॥
english translation
आस्तीकं च सुतं पराप्य धर्मं चानुत्तमं मुनिः जरत्कारुः सुमहता कालेन सवर्गम ईयिवान ॥ १-१३-४४ ॥
'Thus having acquired great religious merit, Jaratkaru, after a long course of years, went to heaven, leaving Astika behind.'॥ 1-13-44 ॥
english translation
एतद आख्यानम आस्तीकं यथावत कीर्तितं मया परब्रूहि भृगुशार्दूल किं भूयः कथ्यताम इति ॥ १-१३-४५ ॥
'There is the story of Astika that I have related duly Now, tell me, O tiger of Bhrigu's race, what else I shall narrate.'॥ 1-13-45 ॥
