धार्तराष्ट्रा यतः कर्णस तस्मिन देशे वयवस्थिताः भारद्वाजः कृपॊ भीष्मॊ यतः पार्थस ततॊ ऽभवन ।। १-१२६-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'The sons of Dhritarashtra stood by Karna, while Bharadwaja, Kripa, and Bhishma aligned themselves with Partha. The assembly, along with the female spectators, was thus divided.' ।। 1-126-26 ।।

english translation

dhArtarASTrA yataH karNasa tasmina deze vayavasthitAH bhAradvAjaH kRpò bhISmò yataH pArthasa tatò 'bhavana || 1-126-26 ||

hk transliteration

दविधा रङ्गः समभवत सत्रीणां दवैधम अजायत कुन्तिभॊजसुता मॊहं विज्ञातार्था जगाम ह ।। १-१२६-२७ ।।

sanskrit

'The arena was split in two, and among the women, division arose as well. Kunti, recognizing the true significance of the situation, was overwhelmed with confusion.' ।। 1-126-27 ।।

english translation

davidhA raGgaH samabhavata satrINAM davaidhama ajAyata kuntibhòjasutA mòhaM vijJAtArthA jagAma ha || 1-126-27 ||

तां तथा मॊहसाम्पन्नां विदुरः सर्वधर्मवित कुन्तीम आश्वासयाम आस परॊक्ष्याद्भिश चन्दनॊक्षितैः ।। १-१२६-२८ ।।

sanskrit

'Realizing the situation, Kunti, the daughter of the Bhojas, fainted. With the aid of her attendants, Vidura, an expert in all duties, revived the unconscious Kunti by sprinkling her with sandalwood paste and water.' ।। 1-126-28 ।।

tAM tathA mòhasAmpannAM viduraH sarvadharmavita kuntIma AzvAsayAma Asa paròkSyAdbhiza candanòkSitaiH || 1-126-28 ||

ततः परत्यागतप्राणा ताव उभाव अपि दंशितौ पुत्रौ दृष्ट्वा सुसंतप्ता नान्वपद्यत किं चन ।। १-१२६-२९ ।।

'Upon regaining consciousness, Kunti, seeing her two sons ready for combat, was overcome with dread, yet found herself powerless to intervene.' ।। 1-126-29 ।।

tataH paratyAgataprANA tAva ubhAva api daMzitau putrau dRSTvA susaMtaptA nAnvapadyata kiM cana || 1-126-29 ||

ताव उद्यतमहाचापौ कृपः शारद्वतॊ ऽबरवीत ताव उद्यतसमाचारे कुशलः सर्वधर्मवित ।। १-१२६-३० ।।

sanskrit

'Witnessing both warriors with bows ready in their hands, Kripa, the son of Sharadvata, well-versed in all duties and knowledgeable about the regulations of duels, addressed Karna.' ।। 1-126-30 ।।
