[वै] दत्ते ऽवकाशे पुरुषैर विस्मयॊत्फुल्ललॊचनैः विवेश रङ्गं विस्तीर्णं कर्णः परपुरंजयः ॥ १-१२६-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'As the spectators, their eyes wide with amazement, cleared a path for the conqueror of hostile cities, Karna.'' ॥ 1-126-1 ॥
english translation
[vai] datte 'vakAze puruSaira vismayòtphullalòcanaiH viveza raGgaM vistIrNaM karNaH parapuraMjayaH ॥ 1-126-1 ॥

'Adorned with his innate armor and gleaming with earrings, the hero seized his bow, secured his sword, and stepped into the expansive arena, akin to a majestic mountain in motion.' ॥ 1-126-2 ॥

sahajaM kavacaM bibhrata kuNDalòddyòtitAnanaH sadhanura baddhanistriMzaH pAdacArIva parvataH ॥ 1-126-2 ॥

'Born of a maiden, renowned for his vast glory, with broad eyes, Karna, the annihilator of foes, possessed the brilliance of the sun's rays.' ॥ 1-126-3 ॥

kanyA garbhaH pRthu yazAH pRthAyAH pRthulòcanaH tIkSNAMzòra bhAskarasyAMzaH karNò 'rigaNasUdanaH ॥ 1-126-3 ॥

'He possessed the fervor of the sun's rays and his strength and valor were akin to that of a lion, a bull, or the leader of a herd of elephants.' ॥ 1-126-4 ॥

siMharSabha gajendrANAM tulyavIryaparAkramaH dIptikAnti dayutiguNaiH sUryendu javalanòpamaH ॥ 1-126-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरांशुः कनकतालाभः सिंहसंहननॊ युवा असंख्येयगुणः शरीमान भास्करस्यात्मसंभवः ॥ १-१२६-५ ॥
'In radiance, he rivaled the Sun; in beauty, the Moon; and in vigor, fire. Conceived by the Sun himself, he stood tall like a golden palm tree, his youthful vigor capable of subduing a lion.' ॥ 1-126-5 ॥
