स शुश्राव महात्मानं जामदग्न्यं परंतपम बराह्मणेभ्यस तदा राजन दित्सन्तं वसु सर्वशः ॥ १-१२१-१६ ॥
'O king, it was around this time that Drona learned that the illustrious Brahmana Jamadagnya, the destroyer of enemies, the foremost among all wielders of weapons and versed in all kinds of knowledge, had expressed his intention to donate all his wealth to Brahmanas.' ॥ 1-121-16 ॥

वनं तु परस्थितं रामं भारद्वाजस तदाब्रवीत आगतं वित्तकामं मां विद्धि दरॊणं दविजर्षभम ॥ १-१२१-१७ ॥
'Upon learning of Rama's expertise in warfare and his possession of celestial weapons, Drona became eager to acquire both his martial prowess and his moral wisdom.' ॥ 1-121-17 ॥

[राम] हिरण्यं मम यच चान्यद वसु किं चन विद्यते बराह्मणेभ्यॊ मया दत्तं सर्वम एव तपॊधन ॥ १-१२१-१८ ॥
'O ascetic of great virtue," replied Rama, "My gold and all other wealth I had, have been given away to Brahmins!"' ॥ 1-121-18 ॥

तथैवेयं धरा देवी सागरान्ता सपत्तना कश्यपाय मया दत्ता कृत्स्ना नगरमालिनी ॥ १-१२१-१९ ॥
'This earth, adorned with towns and cities up to the edge of the ocean, as if with a garland of flowers, I have also given to Kashyapa.' ॥ 1-121-19 ॥

शरीरमात्रम एवाद्य मयेदम अवशेषितम अस्त्राणि च महार्हाणि शस्त्राणि विविधानि च वृणीष्व किं परयच्छामि तुभ्यं दरॊण वदाशु तत ॥ १-१२१-२० ॥
'I now possess only my body and my valuable weapons. I am ready to offer either my body or my weapons. Tell me quickly, which one do you desire? I am willing to give it to you!' ॥ 1-121-20 ॥
