परहार वेगाभिहताद दरुमाद वयाघूर्णितास ततः सफलाः परपतन्ति सम दरुतं सरस्ताः कुमारकाः ॥ १-११९-२१ ॥
'Struck by the forceful blows, the trees shook violently, and the frightened children, falling down in confusion, hit the ground hard.' ॥ 1-119-21 ॥

न ते नियुद्धे न जवे न यॊग्यासु कदा चन कुमारा उत्तरं चक्रुः सपर्धमाना वृकॊदरम ॥ १-११९-२२ ॥
'At no time could those children compete with Vrikodara (Bhima), neither in strength, nor in agility, nor in any suitable contest.' ॥ 1-119-22 ॥

एवं स धार्तराष्ट्राणां सपर्धमानॊ वृकॊदरः अप्रिये ऽतिष्ठद अत्यन्तं बाल्यान न दरॊह चेतसा ॥ १-११९-२३ ॥
'So, Bhima, competing with the sons of Dhritarashtra, stood firm, never yielding to unpleasantness, with a resolute mind, even from his childhood.' ॥ 1-119-23 ॥

ततॊ बलम अतिख्यातं धार्तराष्ट्रः परतापवान भीमसेनस्य तज्ज्ञात्वा दुष्टभावम अदर्शयत ॥ १-११९-२४ ॥
'Observing the remarkable displays of Bhima's strength, Duryodhana, the mighty eldest son of Dhritarashtra, started harboring enmity towards him.' ॥ 1-119-24 ॥

तस्य धर्माद अपेतस्य पापानि परिपश्यतः मॊहाद ऐश्वर्यलॊभाच च पापा मतिर अजायत ॥ १-११९-२५ ॥
'Duryodhana, wicked and devoid of righteousness, driven by ignorance and ambition, readied himself for an act of wrongdoing.' ॥ 1-119-25 ॥
