तान महर्षिगणान सर्वाञ शिरॊभिर अभिवाद्य च उपॊपविविशुः सर्वे कौरव्याः सपुरॊहिताः ॥ १-११७-१६ ॥
'The Kauravas, accompanied by their priest, respectfully greeted the sages by bowing their heads and then took their seats before them.' ॥ 1-117-16 ॥
english translation
tAna maharSigaNAna sarvAJa ziròbhira abhivAdya ca upòpavivizuH sarve kauravyAH sapuròhitAH ॥ 1-117-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतथैव शिरसा भूमाव अभिवाद्य परणम्य च उपॊपविविशुः सर्वे पौरजानपदा अपि ॥ १-११७-१७ ॥
'In the same manner, bowing their heads to the ground in salutation, all the citizens and subjects also took their seats.' ॥ 1-117-17 ॥
english translation
tathaiva zirasA bhUmAva abhivAdya paraNamya ca upòpavivizuH sarve paurajAnapadA api ॥ 1-117-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतम अकूजम इवाज्ञाय जनौघं सर्वशस तदा भीष्मॊ राज्यं च राष्ट्रं च महर्षिभ्यॊ नयवेदयत ॥ १-११७-१८ ॥
'Then Bhishma, calming that vast assembly, respectfully worshipped those ascetics by offering them water to wash their feet and the customary Arghya. After this, he spoke to them about sovereignty and the kingdom.' ॥ 1-117-18 ॥

tama akUjama ivAjJAya janaughaM sarvazasa tadA bhISmò rAjyaM ca rASTraM ca maharSibhyò nayavedayata ॥ 1-117-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेषाम अथॊ वृद्धतमः परत्युत्थाय जटाजिनी महर्षिमतम आज्ञाय महर्षिर इदम अब्रवीत ॥ १-११७-१९ ॥
'Then, rising respectfully, the eldest of the ascetics, adorned with matted locks on his head and wearing a loincloth made of animal skin, spoke with the agreement of the other sages.' ॥ 1-117-19 ॥

teSAma athò vRddhatamaH paratyutthAya jaTAjinI maharSimatama AjJAya maharSira idama abravIta ॥ 1-117-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयः स कौरव्य दायादः पाण्डुर नाम नराधिपः कामभॊगान परित्यज्य शतशृङ्गम इतॊ गतः ॥ १-११७-२० ॥
'Continuing, 'As you are aware, the ruler of the Kuru dynasty known as King Pandu relinquished worldly pleasures and went to reside on the mountain of a hundred peaks.' ॥ 1-117-20 ॥
