बरह्मचर्य वरतस्थस्य तस्य दिव्येन हेतुना साक्षाद धर्माद अयं पुत्रस तस्य जातॊ युधिष्ठिरः ॥ १-११७-२१ ॥

'He embraced the life of celibacy, and for some mysterious reason known only to the gods, his eldest son Yudhishthira was born there, directly begotten by Dharma himself.' ॥ 1-117-21 ॥

english translation

barahmacarya varatasthasya tasya divyena hetunA sAkSAda dharmAda ayaM putrasa tasya jAtò yudhiSThiraH ॥ 1-117-21 ॥

तथेमं बलिनां शरेष्ठं तस्य राज्ञॊ महात्मनः मातरिश्वा ददौ पुत्रं भीमं नाम महाबलम ॥ १-११७-२२ ॥

'Then, that illustrious king received another son, the foremost among mighty men, named Bhima, as bestowed by Vayu.' ॥ 1-117-22 ॥

tathemaM balinAM zareSThaM tasya rAjJò mahAtmanaH mAtarizvA dadau putraM bhImaM nAma mahAbalama ॥ 1-117-22 ॥

पुरुहूताद अयं जज्ञे कुन्त्यां सत्यपराक्रमः यस्य कीरित्र महेष्वासान सर्वान अभिभविष्यति ॥ १-११७-२३ ॥

'This son, born to Kunti from Indra, is Dhananjaya, whose feats will humble all archers in the world.' ॥ 1-117-23 ॥

puruhUtAda ayaM jajJe kuntyAM satyaparAkramaH yasya kIritra maheSvAsAna sarvAna abhibhaviSyati ॥ 1-117-23 ॥

यौ तु माद्री महेष्वासाव असूत कुरुसत्तमौ अश्विभ्यां मनुजव्याघ्राव इमौ ताव अपि तिष्ठतः ॥ १-११७-२४ ॥

'Behold these sons of Madri once more, O best of the Kurus, these two lions among men, adept in archery, born of the twin Ashwins.' ॥ 1-117-24 ॥

yau tu mAdrI maheSvAsAva asUta kurusattamau azvibhyAM manujavyAghrAva imau tAva api tiSThataH ॥ 1-117-24 ॥

चरता धर्मनित्येन वनवासं यशस्विना एष पैतामहॊ वंशः पाण्डुना पुनर उद्धृतः ॥ १-११७-२५ ॥

'Living a life of righteousness as a forest dweller, Pandu has thus rejuvenated the nearly extinguished lineage of his forefathers.' ॥ 1-117-25 ॥
