अपत्यं धर्मफलदं शरेष्ठं विन्दन्ति साधवः आत्मशुक्राद अपि पृथे मनुः सवायम्भुवॊ ऽबरवीत ॥ १-१११-३१ ॥
'The righteous are rewarded with the greatest fruit of their duty in the form of offspring. Even Manu, the self-born, obtained progeny through his seed.' ॥ 1-111-31 ॥
english translation
तस्मात परहेष्याम्य अद्य तवां हीनः परजननात सवयम सदृशाच छरेयसॊ वा तवं विद्ध्य अपत्यं यशस्विनि ॥ १-१११-३२ ॥
'Therefore, today, feeling inferior due to my inability to beget offspring myself, I shall allow you to bear a child either through someone similar to me or someone else, O illustrious one.' ॥ 1-111-32 ॥
english translation
शृणु कुन्ति कथां चेमां शार दण्डायनीं परति या वीर पत्नी गुरुभिर नियुक्तापत्य जन्मनि ॥ १-१११-३३ ॥
' Therefore, O Kunti, being destitute myself of the power of procreation, I command thee to raise good offspring through some person who is either equal or superior to me.' ॥ 1-111-33 ॥

पुष्पेण परयता सनाता निशि कुन्ति चतुष्पथे वरयित्वा दविजं सिद्धं हुत्वा पुंसवने ऽनलम ॥ १-१११-३४ ॥
'Having obtained the divine flower from Surya, O Kunti, while in seclusion and during the night, I invoked the divine sage Durvasa, and having offered the oblation into the sacred fire, I obtained the boon.' ॥ 1-111-34 ॥

कर्मण्य अवसिते तस्मिन सा तेनैव सहावसत तत्र तरीञ जनयाम आस दुर्जयादीन महारथान ॥ १-१११-३५ ॥
'She bore three sons, mighty warriors all, with Durjaya as the eldest, begotten upon her by that Brahmana.' ॥ 1-111-35 ॥
