शश्वद धर्मात्मनां मुख्ये कुले जातस्य भारत कामलॊभाभिभूतस्य कथं ते चलिता मतिः ॥ १-१०९-११ ॥
'You are born, O descendant of Bharata, into a lineage known for its virtue. How is it, then, that you, succumbing to passion and anger, lose your sense of reason?' ॥ 1-109-11 ॥
english translation
[प] शत्रूणां या वधे वृत्तिः सा मृगाणां वधे समृता राज्ञां मृगन मां मॊहात तवं गर्हयितुम अर्हसि ॥ १-१०९-१२ ॥
'Hearing this, Pandu responded, "O deer, kings act in the hunting of animals like your kind just as they do in the slaying of enemies. Therefore, you should not reproach me in ignorance."' ॥ 1-109-12 ॥
english translation
अच्छद्मनामायया च मृगाणां वध इष्यते स एव धर्मॊ राज्ञां तु तद विद्वान किं नु गर्हसे ॥ १-१०९-१३ ॥
'Animals like you are hunted both openly and covertly. Such is the custom among kings. So why do you criticize me?' ॥ 1-109-13 ॥
english translation
अगस्त्यः सत्रम आसीनश चचार मृगयाम ऋषिः आरण्यान सर्वदैवत्यान मृगान परॊक्ष्य महावने ॥ १-१०९-१४ ॥
'Once, during a grand sacrifice, the sage Agastya pursued the deer and dedicated all the deer in the forest to the general pantheon of gods.' ॥ 1-109-14 ॥

परमाण दृष्टधर्मेण कथम अस्मान विगर्हसे अगस्त्यस्याभिचारेण युष्माकं वै वपा हुता ॥ १-१०९-१५ ॥
'You have been slain by the established precedent. Why then do you reproach us? Agastya himself used the fat of deer for his special sacrifices.' ॥ 1-109-15 ॥
