तस्मिञ जनपदे रम्ये बहवः कुरुभिः कृताः कूपाराम सभा वाप्यॊ बराह्मणावसथास तथा भीष्मेण शास्त्रतॊ राजन सर्वतः परिरक्षिते ॥ १-१०२-११ ॥
'And the wells and lakes were ever full; the groves abounded with trees, and the houses and abodes of Brahmanas were full of wealth and the whole kingdom was full of festivities. And, O king, virtuously ruled by Bhishma, the kingdom was adorned with hundreds of sacrificial stakes.' ॥ 1-102-11 ॥

बभूव रमणीयश च चैत्ययूप शताङ्कितः स देशः परराष्ट्राणि परतिगृह्याभिवर्धितः भीष्मेण विहितं राष्ट्रे धर्मचक्रम अवर्तत ॥ १-१०२-१२ ॥
'Under the guidance of Bhishma, the wheel of righteousness turned, bringing such contentment to the land that people from other kingdoms left their homes to settle there, thus boosting its population.' ॥ 1-102-12 ॥

करियमाणेषु कृत्येषु कुमाराणां महात्मनाम पौरजानपदाः सर्वे बभूवुः सततॊत्सवाः ॥ १-१०२-१३ ॥
'The citizens and the populace were filled with hope as they witnessed the noble deeds of their illustrious princes.' ॥ 1-102-13 ॥

गृहेषु कुरुमुख्यानां पौराणां च नराधिप दीयतां भुज्यतां चेति वाचॊ ऽशरूयन्त सर्वशः ॥ १-१०२-१४ ॥
'In the homes of the Kuru leaders and the city's prominent inhabitants, O king, the encouraging words "give" and "enjoy" resonated everywhere, fostering a spirit of generosity and contentment.' ॥ 1-102-14 ॥

धृतराष्ट्रश च पाण्डुश च विदुरश च महामतिः जन्मप्रभृति भीष्मेण पुत्रवत परिपालिताः ॥ १-१०२-१५ ॥
'And Dhritarashtra and Pandu and Vidura of great intelligence were from their birth brought up by Bhishma, as if they were his sons.' ॥ 1-102-15 ॥
