ततः स मुनिशार्दूलस तान उवाच तपॊधनान दॊषतः कं गमिष्यामि न हि मे ऽनयॊ ऽपराध्यति ॥ १-१०१-१६ ॥
'Vaisampayana narrated, "When questioned thus, the foremost among Munis responded to those sages of immense ascetic merit, 'Upon whom shall I cast blame for this? Indeed, no one other than myself has transgressed against me!'' ॥ 1-101-16 ॥
english translation
tataH sa munizArdUlasa tAna uvAca tapòdhanAna dòSataH kaM gamiSyAmi na hi me 'nayò 'parAdhyati ॥ 1-101-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराजा च तम ऋषिं शरुत्वा निष्क्रम्य सह मन्त्रिभिः परसादयाम आस तदा शूलस्थम ऋषिसत्तमम ॥ १-१०१-१७ ॥
'Subsequently, O monarch, the officials of justice, upon witnessing the sage's survival, reported it to the king. Upon hearing their words, the king consulted with his advisors and then proceeded to the site to pacify the Rishi who remained fixed on the stake.' ॥ 1-101-17 ॥
english translation
rAjA ca tama RSiM zarutvA niSkramya saha mantribhiH parasAdayAma Asa tadA zUlasthama RSisattamama ॥ 1-101-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयन मयापकृतं मॊहाद अज्ञानाद ऋषिसत्तम परसादये तवां तत्राहं न मे तवं करॊद्धुम अर्हसि ॥ १-१०१-१८ ॥
'The king addressed the sage, saying, "O greatest of sages, I have unknowingly wronged you. I humbly request your forgiveness for my actions."' ॥ 1-101-18 ॥

yana mayApakRtaM mòhAda ajJAnAda RSisattama parasAdaye tavAM tatrAhaM na me tavaM karòddhuma arhasi ॥ 1-101-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवम उक्तस ततॊ राज्ञा परसादम अकरॊन मुनिः कृतप्रसादॊ राजा तं ततः समवतारयत ॥ १-१०१-१९ ॥
'Having been spoken to thus, the sage then pardoned the king, who thereafter obtained his grace, and the king was thus relieved of his distress.' ॥ 1-101-19 ॥

evama uktasa tatò rAjJA parasAdama akaròna muniH kRtaprasAdò rAjA taM tataH samavatArayata ॥ 1-101-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअवतार्य च शूलाग्रात तच छूलं निश्चकर्ष ह अशक्नुवंश च निष्क्रष्टुं शूलं मूले स चिच्छिदे ॥ १-१०१-२० ॥
'Descending from the stake, he removed the same from the spot, unable to extract it, he cut it off at the base.' ॥ 1-101-20 ॥
