ते रात्रौ शकुना भूत्वा संन्यवर्तन्त सर्वतः दर्शयन्तॊ यथाशक्ति तम अपृच्छन दविजॊत्तमम शरॊतुम इच्छामहे बरह्मन किं पापं कृतवान असि ॥ १-१०१-१५ ॥
'Transforming into birds, they returned during the night and revealed their identities to the sage. Addressing him respectfully, they inquired, "O Brahmana, we wish to understand what sin you have committed, leading you to endure the torment of impalement."' ॥ 1-101-15 ॥
