यदाश्रौषम अर्जुनॊ देवदेवं; किरात रूपं तर्यम्बकं तॊष्य युद्धे अवाप तत पाशुपतं महास्त्रं; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ॥ १-१-१०९ ॥
'When I heard that Arjuna, having, in combat, pleased the god of gods, Tryambaka (the three-eyed) in the disguise of a hunter, obtained the great weapon Pasupata, then O Sanjaya, I had no hope of success.' ॥ 1-1-109 ॥
