आहूय दानं कन्यानां गुणवद्भ्यः समृतं बुधैः अलंकृत्य यथाशक्ति परदाय च धनान्य अपि ॥ १-९६-८ ॥
'Summoning the virtuous and wise men, Bhishma arranged for the marriages of the maidens, bestowing upon them gifts in accordance with their virtues, and also gave away wealth as much as possible.' ॥ 1-96-8 ॥
