कन्या हेतॊर नरश्रेष्ठ भीष्मः शांतनवस तदा जित्वा विसर्जयाम आस जीवन्तं नृपसत्तमम ततः शाल्वः सवनगरं परययौ भरतर्षभ ॥ १-९६-३९ ॥
'After vanquishing the foremost of monarchs, Bhishma spared his life. O scion of Bharata's lineage, Shalva, upon his defeat, retreated to his realm, where he resumed his virtuous rule.' ॥ 1-96-39 ॥
