माता भस्त्रा पितुः पुत्रॊ येन जातः स एव सः भरस्व पुत्रं दुःषन्त मावमंस्थाः शकुन्तलाम ॥ १-९०-३१ ॥

sanskrit

'The mother is just the vessel through which the father begets the son. In truth, the father himself is the son. Hence, O Dushmanta, acknowledge your son and do not insult Shakuntala.' ॥ 1-90-31 ॥

english translation

mAtA bhastrA pituH putrò yena jAtaH sa eva saH bharasva putraM duHSanta mAvamaMsthAH zakuntalAma ॥ 1-90-31 ॥

रेतॊ धाः पुत्र उन्नयति नरदेव यमक्षयात तवं चास्य धाता गर्भस्य सत्याम आह शकुन्तला ॥ १-९०-३२ ॥

'O noble among men, it is indeed true that a father, by acknowledging his son, redeems himself from hell. Shakuntala has spoken rightly in saying that you are the progenitor of this child.' ॥ 1-90-32 ॥

retò dhAH putra unnayati naradeva yamakSayAta tavaM cAsya dhAtA garbhasya satyAma Aha zakuntalA ॥ 1-90-32 ॥
