[य] इमं भौमं नरकं ते पतन्ति; लालप्यमाना नरदेव सर्वे ते कङ्कगॊमायु बलाशनार्थं; कषीणा विवृद्धिं बहुधा वरजन्ति ॥ १-८५-४ ॥
'Yayati explained, "All these human-like gods, overwhelmed by desire, fall into this earthly hell. Driven by cravings for sensory pleasures and sustenance, they forsake their growth, which leads to their decline in various ways."' ॥ 1-85-4 ॥
