वाक सायका वदनान निष्पतन्ति; यैर आहतः शॊचति रार्त्य अहानि परस्य वा मर्मसु ये पतन्ति; तान पण्डितॊ नावसृजेत परेषु ॥ १-८२-११ ॥
'The person wounded by the arrows of cruel words, shot forth from one's lips, weeps day and night. Indeed, these pierce deep into the heart. Hence, the wise refrain from launching such arrows at others.' ॥ 1-82-11 ॥
english translation
vAka sAyakA vadanAna niSpatanti; yaira AhataH zòcati rArtya ahAni parasya vA marmasu ye patanti; tAna paNDitò nAvasRjeta pareSu ॥ 1-82-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन हीदृशं संवननं तरिषु लॊकेषु विद्यते यथा मैत्री च भूतेषु दानं च मधुरा च वाक ॥ १-८२-१२ ॥
'There's no better way to honor the deities in the three worlds than through acts of kindness, offering friendship, engaging in charity, and speaking kindly to all.' ॥ 1-82-12 ॥
english translation
na hIdRzaM saMvananaM tariSu lòkeSu vidyate yathA maitrI ca bhUteSu dAnaM ca madhurA ca vAka ॥ 1-82-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मात सान्त्वं सदा वाच्यं न वाच्यं परुषं कव चित पूज्यान संपूजयेद दद्यान न च याचेत कदा चन ॥ १-८२-१३ ॥
'Hence, always speak words that comfort, not ones that burn. Respect those deserving of your respect, and always give without expecting anything in return!' ॥ 1-82-13 ॥
english translation
tasmAta sAntvaM sadA vAcyaM na vAcyaM paruSaM kava cita pUjyAna saMpUjayeda dadyAna na ca yAceta kadA cana ॥ 1-82-13 ॥
