[य] बराह्मण परमुखा वर्णाः सर्वे शृण्वन्तु मे वचः जयेष्ठं परति यथा राज्यं न देयं मे कथं चन ॥ १-८०-१६ ॥
'Listen, leaders of the four orders, with Brahmanas among them, to my reasoning for why my kingdom should not be bestowed upon my eldest son.' ॥ 1-80-16 ॥
english translation
मम जयेष्ठेन यदुना नियॊगॊ नानुपालितः परतिकूलः पितुर यश च न सपुत्रः सतां मतः ॥ १-८०-१७ ॥
'My eldest son, Yadu, has disobeyed my commands. It is said by the wise that he who disobeys his father is not deemed a true son.' ॥ 1-80-17 ॥
english translation
मातापित्रॊर वचनकृद धितः पथ्यश च यः सुतः सपुत्रः पुत्रवद यश च वर्तते पितृमातृषु ॥ १-८०-१८ ॥
'A son who acts by his parents' words and follows the righteous path is considered a true son. He brings glory to his parents just like a son should.' ॥ 1-80-18 ॥
english translation
यदुनाहम अवज्ञातस तथा तुर्वसुनापि च दरुह्युना चानुना चैव मय्य अवज्ञा कृता भृशम ॥ १-८०-१९ ॥
'I have been disobeyed not only by Yadu but also by Turvasu, Druhyu, and Anu. They have all shown great disrespect towards me.' ॥ 1-80-19 ॥

पूरुणा मे कृतं वाक्यं मानितश च विशेषतः कनीयान मम दायादॊ जरा येन धृता मम मम कामः स च कृतः पूरुणा पुत्र रूपिणा ॥ १-८०-२० ॥
'Only Puru has obeyed my command faithfully and shown me great respect. Therefore, the youngest shall inherit my kingdom. He bore the burden of my old age.' ॥ 1-80-20 ॥
