[देव] सतुवतॊ दुहिता ते ऽहं बन्दिनः परतिगृह्णतः सतूयमानस्य दुहिता कथं दासी भविष्यसि ॥ १-७५-२१ ॥
'Devayani replied, "I am the daughter of one who chants praises to your father and who begs and accepts alms. In contrast, you are the daughter of one who is worshipped. How can you be my servant?"' ॥ 1-75-21 ॥
english translation
[षर] येन केन चिद आर्तानां जञातीनां सुखम आवहेत अतस तवाम अनुयास्यामि यत्र दास्यति ते पिता ॥ १-७५-२२ ॥
'Sarmishtha answered, "I will accompany you wherever your father directs, providing comfort to your distressed relatives in any way possible."' ॥ 1-75-22 ॥
english translation
[व] परतिश्रुते दासभावे दुहित्रा वृषपर्वणः देव यानी नृपश्रेष्ठ पितरं वाक्यम अब्रवीत ॥ १-७५-२३ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "With a pledge to serve as your handmaiden, O daughter of Vrishaparva, the noble king, Devayani approached her father and spoke."' ॥ 1-75-23 ॥
english translation
परविशामि पुरं तात तुष्टास्मि दविजसत्तम अमॊघं तव विज्ञानम अस्ति विद्या बलं च ते ॥ १-७५-२४ ॥
'O most venerable Brahmana, I am pleased. I shall now enter the Asura capital! I have realized that your wisdom and knowledge are indeed invaluable!' ॥ 1-75-24 ॥

एवम उक्तॊ दुहित्रा स दविजश्रेष्ठॊ महायशाः परविवेश पुरं हृष्टः पूजितः सर्वदानवैः ॥ १-७५-२५ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, 'That best of Brahmanas, of great reputation, thus addressed by his daughter, then, entered the Asura capital in the gladness of his heart. And the Danavas worshipped him with great reverence.'' ॥ 1-75-25 ॥
