वरतस्य वरतकालं स यथॊक्तं परत्यगृह्णत आराधयन्न उपाध्यायं देव यानीं च भारत ॥ १-७१-२१ ॥
'And, O Bharata, accepting the vow of which he had spoken, at the proper time, Kacha began to conciliate regardfully both his preceptor and (his daughter) Devayani.' ॥ 1-71-21 ॥
english translation
नित्यम आराधयिष्यंस तां युवा यौवनग आमुखे गायन नृत्यन वादयंश च देव यानीम अतॊषयत ॥ १-७१-२२ ॥
'Indeed, he began to conciliate both. And as he was young, by singing and dancing and playing on different kinds of instruments, he soon gratified Devayani who was herself in her youth.' ॥ 1-71-22 ॥
english translation
संशीलयन देव यानीं कन्यां संप्राप्तयौवनाम पुष्पैः फलैः परेषणैश च तॊषयाम आस भारत ॥ १-७१-२३ ॥
'And, O Bharata, with his whole heart set upon it, he soon gratified the maiden Devayani who was then a young lady, by presents of flowers and fruits and services rendered with alacrity. ' ॥ 1-71-23 ॥
english translation
देव यान्य अपि तं विप्रं नियमव्रतचारिणम अनुगायमाना ललना रहः पर्यचरत तदा ॥ १-७१-२४ ॥
'Devayani, with her melodious songs and charming demeanor, would attend to the youthful Kacha, who was diligently observing his vows, especially when they were in solitude.' ॥ 1-71-24 ॥
english translation
पञ्चवर्षशतान्य एवं कचस्य चरतॊ वरतम तत्रातीयुर अथॊ बुद्ध्वा दानवास तं ततः कचम ॥ १-७१-२५ ॥
'After five hundred years of Kacha adhering to his vow, the Danavas eventually discerned his true purpose.' ॥ 1-71-25 ॥
