न हीमां पवनॊ राजन न नागा न नगा महीम तदा धारयितुं शेकुर आक्रान्तां दानवैर बलात ॥ १-५८-३६ ॥
'O King, neither the wind nor mountains nor rivers could support this Earth when the demoniac forces forcibly seized it.' ॥ 1-58-36 ॥
english translation
na hImAM pavanò rAjana na nAgA na nagA mahIma tadA dhArayituM zekura AkrAntAM dAnavaira balAta ॥ 1-58-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ मही महीपाल भारार्ता भयपीडिता जगाम शरणं देवं सर्वभूतपितामहम ॥ १-५८-३७ ॥
'Then, O ruler of the Earth, distressed and burdened with fear, the Earth sought refuge in the divine, the universal grandfather of all beings.' ॥ 1-58-37 ॥

tatò mahI mahIpAla bhArArtA bhayapIDitA jagAma zaraNaM devaM sarvabhUtapitAmahama ॥ 1-58-37 ॥

'And she beheld the divine Brahman—the Creator of the worlds who knoweth no deterioration-surrounded by the gods, Brahmanas, and great Rishis, of exceeding good fortune.' ॥ 1-58-38 ॥

sA saMvRtaM mahAbhAgaira devadvija maharSibhiH dadarza devaM barahmANaM lòkakartArama avyayama ॥ 1-58-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगन्धर्वैर अप्सरॊभिश च बन्दि कर्मसु निष्ठितैः वन्द्यमानं मुदॊपेतैर ववन्दे चैनम एत्य सा ॥ १-५८-३९ ॥
'Adorned and revered by joyful Gandharvas and ever-dedicated Apsaras in the celestial duties, the Earth, seeking protection, laid bare her concerns in the presence of all the Regents of the worlds, O Bharata.' ॥ 1-58-39 ॥

gandharvaira apsaròbhiza ca bandi karmasu niSThitaiH vandyamAnaM mudòpetaira vavande cainama etya sA ॥ 1-58-39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ विज्ञापयाम आस भूमिस तं शरणार्थिनी संनिधौ लॊकपालानां सर्वेषाम एव भारत ॥ १-५८-४० ॥
'However, O king, the purpose of the Earth had already been known to the Omniscient, Self-created, and Supreme Lord.' ॥ 1-58-40 ॥
