एवम आयुष्मतीभिस तु परजाभिर भरतर्षभ इयं सागरपर्यन्ता समापूर्यत मेदिनी ॥ १-५८-१६ ॥
'And thus, O bull of the Bharata race, the earth, to the very coasts of the ocean, became filled with men that were all long-lived.' ॥ 1-58-16 ॥
english translation
evama AyuSmatIbhisa tu parajAbhira bharatarSabha iyaM sAgaraparyantA samApUryata medinI ॥ 1-58-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptईजिरे च महायज्ञैः कषत्रिया बहु दक्षिणैः साङ्गॊपनिषदान वेदान विप्राश चाधीयते तदा ॥ १-५८-१७ ॥
'The Kshatriyas performed great sacrifices bestowing much wealth. And the Brahmanas also all studied the Vedas with their branches and the Upanishads.' ॥ 1-58-17 ॥
english translation
Ijire ca mahAyajJaiH kaSatriyA bahu dakSiNaiH sAGgòpaniSadAna vedAna viprAza cAdhIyate tadA ॥ 1-58-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptन च विक्रीणते बरह्म बराह्मणाः सम तदा नृप न च शूद्र समाभ्याशे वेदान उच्चारयन्त्य उत ॥ १-५८-१८ ॥
'And, O king, no Brahmana in those days ever sold the Vedas (i.e., taught for money) or ever read aloud the Vedas in the presence of a Sudra.' ॥ 1-58-18 ॥
english translation
na ca vikrINate barahma barAhmaNAH sama tadA nRpa na ca zUdra samAbhyAze vedAna uccArayantya uta ॥ 1-58-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकारयन्तः कृषिं गॊभिस तथा वैश्याः कषिताव इह न गाम अयुञ्जन्त धुरि कृशाङ्गाश चाप्य अजीवयन ॥ १-५८-१९ ॥
'The Vaisyas, with the help of bullocks, caused the earth to be tilled. And they never yoked the cattle themselves. And they fed with care all lean cattle.' ॥ 1-58-19 ॥
english translation
kArayantaH kRSiM gòbhisa tathA vaizyAH kaSitAva iha na gAma ayuJjanta dhuri kRzAGgAza cApya ajIvayana ॥ 1-58-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptफेनपांश च तथा वत्सान न दुहन्ति सम मानवाः न कूटमानैर वणिजः पण्यं विक्रीणते तदा ॥ १-५८-२० ॥
'And men never milked kine as long as the calves drank only the milk of their dams (without having taken to grass or any other food). And no merchant in those days ever sold his articles by false scales.' ॥ 1-58-20 ॥

phenapAMza ca tathA vatsAna na duhanti sama mAnavAH na kUTamAnaira vaNijaH paNyaM vikrINate tadA ॥ 1-58-20 ॥
