स एवम उक्तॊ नागेन काश्यपॊ दविपदां वरः लब्ध्वा वित्तं निववृते तक्षकाद यावद ईप्सितम ॥ १-४६-२१ ॥

'Thus addressed by the snake, Kasyapa, the best of the twice-born, having obtained the desired wealth, withdrew from Takshaka as much as he wished.' ॥ 1-46-21 ॥

english translation

sa evama uktò nAgena kAzyapò davipadAM varaH labdhvA vittaM nivavRte takSakAda yAvada Ipsitama ॥ 1-46-21 ॥

तस्मिन परतिगते विप्रे छद्मनॊपेत्य तक्षकः तं नृपं नृपतिश्रेष्ठ पितरं धार्मिकं तव ॥ १-४६-२२ ॥

'After Kasyapa had departed, Takshaka, in the guise of a Brahmana, neared the virtuous king, thy father, and with the fiery venom of his poison, brought about his destruction.' ॥ 1-46-22 ॥

tasmina paratigate vipre chadmanòpetya takSakaH taM nRpaM nRpatizreSTha pitaraM dhArmikaM tava ॥ 1-46-22 ॥

परासादस्थं यत्तम अपि दग्धवान विषवह्निना ततस तवं पुरुषव्याघ्र विजयायाभिषेचितः ॥ १-४६-२३ ॥

'The first of kings, staying in his mansion with all precautions, then saw to it that you, O tiger among men, were duly installed on the throne.' ॥ 1-46-23 ॥

parAsAdasthaM yattama api dagdhavAna viSavahninA tatasa tavaM puruSavyAghra vijayAyAbhiSecitaH ॥ 1-46-23 ॥

एतद दृष्टं शरुतं चापि यथावन नृपसत्तम अस्माभिर निखिलं सर्वं कथितं ते सुदारुणम ॥ १-४६-२४ ॥

'O noble ruler, we have presented to you the complete account of what we have witnessed and heard, even though the narrative is harsh.' ॥ 1-46-24 ॥

etada dRSTaM zarutaM cApi yathAvana nRpasattama asmAbhira nikhilaM sarvaM kathitaM te sudAruNama ॥ 1-46-24 ॥

शरुत्वा चैतं नृपश्रेष्ठ पार्थिवस्य पराभवम अस्य चर्षेर उत्तङ्कस्य विधत्स्व यद अनन्तरम ॥ १-४६-२५ ॥

'Having been informed about the defeat of your royal father and the humiliation of the Rishi Utanka, consider what actions should be taken next!' ॥ 1-46-25 ॥

zarutvA caitaM nRpazreSTha pArthivasya parAbhavama asya carSera uttaGkasya vidhatsva yada anantarama ॥ 1-46-25 ॥
