[ज] नास्मिन कुले जातु बभूव राजा; यॊ न परजानां हितकृत परियश च विशेषतः परेक्ष्य पितामहानां; वृत्तं महद वृत्तपरायणानाम ॥ १-४५-१७ ॥
'Janamejaya inquired, 'In our lineage, every king has strived for the welfare of his subjects and earned their love. Examine particularly the deeds of my ancestors, who were always involved in great accomplishments. Tell me in detail how my virtuous father, endowed with numerous qualities, met his end.'' ॥ 1-45-17 ॥
