सत्यवाग अस्तु स मुनिः कृमिकॊ मां दशत्व अयम तक्षकॊ नाम भूत्वा वै तथा परिहृतं भवेत ॥ १-३९-३१ ॥
'Hence, may this creature transform into Takshaka and bite me, thus cleansing my sins and validating the words of the ascetic.' ॥ 1-39-31 ॥
english translation
satyavAga astu sa muniH kRmikò mAM dazatva ayama takSakò nAma bhUtvA vai tathA parihRtaM bhaveta ॥ 1-39-31 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptते चैनम अन्ववर्तन्त मन्त्रिणः कालचॊदिताः एवम उक्त्वा स राजेन्द्रॊ गरीवायां संनिवेश्य ह कृमिकं पराहसत तूर्णं मुमूर्षुर नष्टचेतनः ॥ १-३९-३२ ॥
'And those councilors also, impelled by Fate, approved of that speech. And then the monarch smiled, losing his senses, his hour having come.' ॥ 1-39-32 ॥
english translation
te cainama anvavartanta mantriNaH kAlacòditAH evama uktvA sa rAjendrò garIvAyAM saMnivezya ha kRmikaM parAhasata tUrNaM mumUrSura naSTacetanaH ॥ 1-39-32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptहसन्न एव च भॊगेन तक्षकेणाभिवेष्टितः तस्मात फलाद विनिष्क्रम्य यत तद राज्ञे निवेदितम ॥ १-३९-३३ ॥
'And he quickly placed that insect on his neck. And as the king was smiling, Takshaka, who had (in the form of that insect) come out of the fruit that had been offered to the king, coiled himself around the neck of the monarch. And quickly coiling round the king's neck and uttering a tremendous roar, Takshaka, that lord of snakes, bit that protector of the earth.'" ॥ 1-39-33 ॥
english translation
hasanna eva ca bhògena takSakeNAbhiveSTitaH tasmAta phalAda viniSkramya yata tada rAjJe niveditama ॥ 1-39-33 ॥
