तरुणस तस्य पुत्रॊ ऽभूत तिग्मतेजा महातपाः शृङ्गी नाम महाक्रॊधॊ दुष्प्रसादॊ महाव्रतः ॥ १-३६-२१ ॥
'That Rishi had a son by name Sringin, of tender years, gifted with great energy, deep in ascetic penances, severe in his vows, very wrathful, and difficult to be appeased.' ॥ 1-36-21 ॥
english translation
स देवं परम ईशानं सर्वभूतहिते रतम बरह्माणम उपतस्थे वै काले काले सुसंयतः स तेन समनुज्ञातॊ बरह्मणा गृहम ईयिवान ॥ १-३६-२२ ॥
'He, devoted to the supreme Lord Ishana and engaged in the welfare of all beings, regularly approached the divine Brahman at appropriate times. With the permission of that Brahman, he entered his home.' ॥ 1-36-22 ॥
english translation
सख्यॊक्तः करीडमानेन स तत्र हसता किल संरम्भी कॊपनॊ ऽतीव विषकल्प ऋषेः सुतः ऋषिपुत्रेण नर्मार्थं कृशेन दविजसत्तमः ॥ १-३६-२३ ॥
'And commanded by his preceptor, he was coming home when, O best of Brahmanas, a companion of his, Rishi's son named Krisa in a playful mood laughingly spoke unto him. And Sringin, wrathful and like unto poison itself, hearing these words about his father, blazed up in rage.' ॥ 1-36-23 ॥
english translation
तेजस्विनस तव पिता तथैव च तपस्विनः शवं सकन्धेन वहति मा शृङ्गिन गर्वितॊ भव ॥ १-३६-२४ ॥
'Krisa said, 'Do not be proud, O Sringin, for although you are ascetic and possess energy, your father bears on his shoulders a dead snake.' ॥ 1-36-24 ॥
english translation
वयाहरत्स्व ऋषिपुत्रेषु मा सम किं चिद वचॊ वदीः अस्मद्विधेषु सिद्धेषु बरह्मवित्सु तपस्विषु ॥ १-३६-२५ ॥
'Henceforth speak not a word to sons of Rishis like ourselves who know the truth, are deep in ascetic penances, and have attained success.' ॥ 1-36-25 ॥
