स तैर अर्कपत्रैर भक्षितैः कषार कटूष्ण विपाकिभिश चक्षुष्य उपहतॊ ऽनधॊ ऽभवत सॊ ऽनधॊ ऽपि चङ्क्रम्यमाणः कूपे ऽपतत ॥ १-३-५२ ॥
'And his eyes being affected by the pungent, acrimonious, crude, and saline properties of the leaves that he had eaten, he became blind. And as he was crawling about, he fell into a pit.' ॥ 1-3-52 ॥
