स तथेति परतिज्ञाय निराहारस ता गा अरक्षत तथा परतिषिद्धॊ भैक्षं नाश्नाति न चान्यच चरति पयॊ न पिबति फेनं नॊपयुङ्क्ते ।। १-३-५० ।।

'Acknowledging this, Upamanyu continued to tend to the cows without consuming any sustenance. He strictly abstained from begging for alms and refrained from engaging in any other activities. He neither drank milk nor partook in the froth produced by the calves.' ।। 1-3-50 ।।

english translation

sa tatheti paratijJAya nirAhArasa tA gA arakSata tathA paratiSiddhò bhaikSaM nAznAti na cAnyaca carati payò na pibati phenaM nòpayuGkte || 1-3-50 ||
