पथि गच्छता मयर्षभॊ दृष्टः तं च पुरुषॊ ऽधिरूढः तेनास्मि सॊपचारम उक्तः उत्तङ्कास्यर्षभस्य पुरीषं भक्षय उपाध्यायेनापि ते भक्षितम इति ततस तद वचनान मया तद ऋषभस्य पुरीषम उपयुक्तम तद इच्छामि भवतॊपदिष्टं किं तद इति ॥ १-३-१७१ ॥
'While traveling, I encountered a man riding a bull who warmly addressed me, 'Utanka, would you partake of the dung eaten by your master?' Consequently, following his words, I consumed the dung of that bull. I am curious to know more about this person and seek your enlightenment on the matter.' ॥ 1-3-171 ॥

तेनैवम उक्त उपाध्यायः परत्युवाच ये ते सत्रियौ धाता विधाता च ये च ते कृष्णाः सिताश च तन्तवस ते रात्र्यहनी ॥ १-३-१७२ ॥
'In response, his preceptor conveyed, "The two maidens you witnessed represent Dhata and Vidhata, and the black and white threads symbolize the alternation between night and day."' ॥ 1-3-172 ॥

यद अपि तच चक्रं दवादशारं षट कुमाराः परिवर्तयन्ति ते ऋतवः षट संवत्सरश चक्रम यः पुरुषः स पर्जन्यः यॊ ऽशवः सॊ ऽगनिः ॥ १-३-१७३ ॥
'The wheel of twelve spokes turned by the six boys signified the year comprising six seasons. The man is Parjanya, the deity of rain, and the horse is Agni, the god of fire.' ॥ 1-3-173 ॥
english translation
य ऋषभस तवया पथि गच्छता दृष्टः स ऐरावतॊ नागराजः यश चैनम अधिरूढः सेन्द्रः यद अपि ते पुरीषं भक्षितं तस्य ऋषभस्य तद अमृतम ॥ १-३-१७४ ॥
'The bull you witnessed on the road is Airavata, the majestic elephant king. The rider on it is Indra, and the dung you partook of is deemed as Amrita, the nectar of immortality.' ॥ 1-3-174 ॥
english translation
तेन खल्व असि न वयापन्नस तस्मिन नागभवने स चापि मम सखा इन्द्रः ॥ १-३-१७५ ॥
'It was precisely for this reason that you did not face death in the realm of the Nagas. Indra, my friend, benevolently extended his favor, demonstrating mercy towards you.' ॥ 1-3-175 ॥
