एवम उक्ताः कश्यपेन वालखिल्यास तपॊधनाः परत्यूचुर अभिसंपूज्य मुनिश्रेष्ठं परजापतिम ।। १-१७-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'And the Valakhilyas, thus addressed by Kasyapa, after offering reverence to that first of the Munis, viz., the Prajapati Kasyapa, spake unto him.' ।। 1-27-21 ।।

english translation

evama uktAH kazyapena vAlakhilyAsa tapòdhanAH paratyUcura abhisaMpUjya munizreSThaM parajApatima || 1-17-21 ||

hk transliteration

इन्द्रार्थॊ ऽयं समारम्भः सर्वेषां नः परजापते अपत्यार्थं समारम्भॊ भवतश चायम ईप्सितः ।। १-१७-२२ ।।

sanskrit

'The Valakhilyas said,'O Prajapati, this sacrifice of us all is for an Indra!' ।। 1-27-22 ।।

english translation

indrArthò 'yaM samArambhaH sarveSAM naH parajApate apatyArthaM samArambhò bhavataza cAyama IpsitaH || 1-17-22 ||

hk transliteration

तद इदं सफलं कर्म तवया वै परतिगृह्यताम तथा चैव विधत्स्वात्र यथा शरेयॊ ऽनुपश्यसि ।। १-१७-२३ ।।

sanskrit

'This endeavor is also intended for the birth of your son! Let this responsibility now rest upon you. In this matter, do whatever you consider to be good and appropriate.' ।। 1-27-23 ।।

english translation

tada idaM saphalaM karma tavayA vai paratigRhyatAma tathA caiva vidhatsvAtra yathA zareyò 'nupazyasi || 1-17-23 ||

hk transliteration

एतस्मिन्न एव काले तु देवी दाक्षायणी शुभा विनता नाम कल्याणी पुत्र कामा यशस्विनी ।। १-१७-२४ ।।

sanskrit

'Sauti continued, 'In the meantime, driven by the longing for progeny, Vinata, the virtuous and fortunate daughter of Daksha, who observed vows and had completed her ascetic penance, purified herself through a bath during the season conducive to fruitful companionship. With her desire for offspring, she then approached her husband.' ।। 1-27-24 ।।

english translation

etasminna eva kAle tu devI dAkSAyaNI zubhA vinatA nAma kalyANI putra kAmA yazasvinI || 1-17-24 ||

hk transliteration

तपस तप्त्वा वरतपरा सनाता पुंसवने शुचिः उपचक्राम भर्तारं ताम उवाचाथ कश्यपः ।। १-१७-२५ ।।

sanskrit

'And Kasyapa spake unto her, 'Respected one, the sacrifice commenced by me hath borne fruit. What hath been desired by thee shall come to pass.' ।। 1-27-25 ।।

english translation

tapasa taptvA varataparA sanAtA puMsavane zuciH upacakrAma bhartAraM tAma uvAcAtha kazyapaH || 1-17-25 ||
