तच छरुत्वा देवराजस्य कश्यपॊ ऽथ परजापतिः वालखिल्यान उपागम्य कर्मसिद्धिम अपृच्छत ॥ १-१७-१६ ॥

'And the Prajapati Kasyapa, hearing everything from Indra, went to the Valakhilyas and asked them if their sacrifice had been successful.' ॥ 1-27-15 ॥

english translation

taca charutvA devarAjasya kazyapò 'tha parajApatiH vAlakhilyAna upAgamya karmasiddhima apRcchata ॥ 1-17-16 ॥

एवम अस्त्व इति तं चापि परत्यूचुः सत्यवादिनः तान कश्यप उवाचेदं सान्त्वपूर्वं परजापतिः ॥ १-१७-१७ ॥

'Thus, with an affirmation of "so be it," the sincere individuals responded. Following that, Kashyapa addressed them, and Prajapati spoke words of reassurance to calm them initially.' ॥ 1-27-17 ॥

evama astva iti taM cApi paratyUcuH satyavAdinaH tAna kazyapa uvAcedaM sAntvapUrvaM parajApatiH ॥ 1-17-17 ॥

अयम इन्द्रस तरिभुवने नियॊगाद बरह्मणः कृतः इन्द्रार्थं च भवन्तॊ ऽपि यत्नवन्तस तपॊधनाः ॥ १-१७-१८ ॥

'Prajapati Kasyapa, in calming them, addressed them in this manner: "By the divine decree of Brahman, Indra has been appointed as the ruler of the three worlds.' ॥ 1-27-18 ॥

ayama indrasa taribhuvane niyògAda barahmaNaH kRtaH indrArthaM ca bhavantò 'pi yatnavantasa tapòdhanAH ॥ 1-17-18 ॥

न मिथ्या बरह्मणॊ वाक्यं कर्तुम अर्हथ सत्तमाः भवतां च न मिथ्यायं संकल्पॊ मे चिकीर्षितः ॥ १-१७-१९ ॥

'Ascetics, you are endeavoring to bring forth another Indra! It is not fitting for you, O noble ones, to go against the divine decree of Brahman.' ॥ 1-27-19 ॥

na mithyA barahmaNò vAkyaM kartuma arhatha sattamAH bhavatAM ca na mithyAyaM saMkalpò me cikIrSitaH ॥ 1-17-19 ॥

भवत्व एष पतत्रीणाम इन्द्रॊ ऽतिबलसत्त्ववान परसादः करियतां चैव देवराजस्य याचतः ॥ १-१७-२० ॥

'May this formidable Indra, endowed with exceptional strength, garner the favor and benevolence of the divine ruler through your sincere supplication.' ॥ 1-27-20 ॥
