[दरॊण] सूर्यॊ भूत्वा रश्मिभिर जातवेदॊ; भूमेर अम्भॊ भूमिजातान रसांश च विश्वान आदाय पुनर उत्सर्ग काले; सृष्ट्वा वृष्ट्या भावयसीह शुक्र ।। १-२२३-१६ ।।

'Drona said, "O Sukra, from whose mouth the Vedas have sprung, you assume the form of the sun, absorbing the waters of the earth and every liquid essence it produces. In due time, you return them as rain, nurturing the growth of all."' ।। 1-223-16 ।।

english translation

[daròNa] sUryò bhUtvA razmibhira jAtavedò; bhUmera ambhò bhUmijAtAna rasAMza ca vizvAna AdAya punara utsarga kAle; sRSTvA vRSTyA bhAvayasIha zukra || 1-223-16 ||

'From you, O Sukra, arise these plants and vines with their green foliage! From you have sprung these lakes and pools, and even the great ocean that is eternally blessed!' ।। 1-223-17 ।।

'From you arise plants and vines with green foliage! From you have sprung these lakes, pools, and the great blessed ocean! O radiant one, our human body depends on Varuna, the water-god! We cannot bear your intense heat. Therefore, be our auspicious protector! O, do not destroy us!' ।। 1-223-18 ।।

'O thou with eyes of copper hue, O thou with a red neck, O thou whose path is marked by a black color, save us by departing through any distant route, just as the ocean protects the dwelling on its shores!' ।। 1-223-19 ।।
