नापश्यत सवधिया मॊक्षं सवसुतानां तदानलात एवं बरुवन्तीं शार्ङ्गास ते परत्यूचुर अथ मातरम ॥ १-२२१-११ ॥
'Unable to see any means of deliverance for her children from that conflagration, Jarita, in this manner, spoke to the Sarngakas, who then replied to their mother.' ॥ 1-221-11 ॥
english translation
सनेहम उत्सृज्य मातस तवं पत यत्र न हव्यवाट अस्मासु हि विनष्टेषु भवितारः सुतास तव तवयि मातर विनष्टायां न नः सयात कुलसंततिः ॥ १-२२१-१२ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, "To their grieving mother, the young ones spoke thus: 'O mother, let go of your attachment to us and flee to a place where the fire cannot reach. If we perish here, you can have other children born to you. But if you, O mother, perish, our lineage will come to an end.'"' ॥ 1-221-12 ॥

अन्ववैक्ष्यैतद उभयं कषमं सयाद यत कुलस्य नः तद वै कर्तुं परः कालॊ मातर एष भवेत तव ॥ १-२२१-१३ ॥
'Reflecting upon both these calamities, the time hath come for thee, O mother, to do that which is beneficial to our race.' ॥ 1-221-13 ॥
english translation
मा वै कुलविनाशाय सनेहं कार्षीः सुतेषु नः न हीदं कर्म मॊघं सयाल लॊककामस्य नः पितुः ॥ १-२२१-१४ ॥
'Do not let your affection for your offspring lead to the destruction of both us and you. If you save yourself, our father, who desires to attain regions of felicity, may have his wishes fulfilled.' ॥ 1-221-14 ॥

[जरिता] इदम आखॊर बिलं भूमौ वृक्षस्यास्य समीपतः तद आविशध्वं तवरिता वह्नेर अत्र न वॊ भयम ॥ १-२२१-१५ ॥
'Upon hearing the infants' words, Jarita responded, "Near this tree, there is a mouse's hole in the ground. Enter it immediately. You will be safe from fire there."' ॥ 1-221-15 ॥
