तांस तथॊत्पततः पार्थः शरैः संछिद्य खण्डशः दीप्यमाने ततः परास्यत परहसन कृष्णवर्त्मनि ।। १-२१७-११ ।।

sanskrit

'Arjuna's arrows pierced the birds that attempted to flee from the conflagration. Severed into pieces, they fell into the blazing fire below.' ।। 1-217-11 ।।

english translation

tAMsa tathòtpatataH pArthaH zaraiH saMchidya khaNDazaH dIpyamAne tataH parAsyata parahasana kRSNavartmani || 1-217-11 ||

'Struck by arrows all over their bodies, they emitted loud cries of distress and, trying to fly upwards swiftly, fell back into the fire again.' ।। 1-217-12 ।।

'The inhabitants of the forest, struck by those arrows, began to roar and yell in pain. The clamor they raised resembled the frightful uproar heard during the churning of the ocean in ancient times.' ।। 1-217-13 ।।
