स सात्वत्याम अतिरथः संबभूव धनंजयात मखे निर्मथ्यमानाद वा शमी गर्भाद धुताशनः ॥ १-२१३-६१ ॥
'This great warrior, born from the daughter of the Satwata lineage by Dhananjaya, was likened to fire produced in a sacrifice through the friction of sami wood.' ॥ 1-213-61 ॥

यस्मिञ जाते महाबाहुः कुन्तीपुत्रॊ युधिष्ठिरः अयुतं गा दविजातिभ्यः परादान निष्कांश च तावतः ॥ १-२१३-६२ ॥
'Upon the birth of this child, Yudhishthira, the powerful son of Kunti, gave away unto Brahmanas ten thousand cows and coins of gold.' ॥ 1-213-62 ॥

दयितॊ वासुदेवस्य बाल्यात परभृति चाभवत पितॄणां चैव सर्वेषां परजानाम इव चन्द्रमाः ॥ १-२१३-६३ ॥
'From his earliest years, the child became the favorite of Vasudeva, his father, and uncles, beloved like the moon among all people.' ॥ 1-213-63 ॥

जन्मप्रभृति कृष्णश च चक्रे तस्य करियाः शुभाः स चापि ववृधे बालः शुक्लपक्षे यथा शशी ॥ १-२१३-६४ ॥
'At his birth, Krishna performed the customary rites of infancy. The child grew up resembling the waxing Moon of the bright fortnight.' ॥ 1-213-64 ॥

चतुष्पादं दशविधं धनुर्वेदम अरिंदमः अर्जुनाद वेद वेदज्ञात सकलं दिव्यमानुषम ॥ १-२१३-६५ ॥
'That formidable foe-crusher swiftly mastered the Vedas and learned from his father the science of celestial and human weaponry, comprising four branches and ten divisions.' ॥ 1-213-65 ॥
