[सू] ततः कामगमः पक्षी महावीर्यॊ महाबलः मातुर अन्तिकम आगच्छत परं तीरं महॊदधेः ।। १-२१-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Sauti said, 'Then hearing of and beholding his own body, that bird of beautiful feathers diminished its size. Then, the bird with limitless power, endowed with great strength and heroic valor, approached the vicinity of his mother near the far shore of the vast ocean.' ।। 1-21-1 ।।

english translation

[sU] tataH kAmagamaH pakSI mahAvIryò mahAbalaH mAtura antikama Agacchata paraM tIraM mahòdadheH || 1-21-1 ||

यत्र सा विनता तस्मिन पणितेन पराजिता अतीव दुःखसंतप्ता दासी भावम उपागता ।। १-२१-२ ।।

sanskrit

'And Garuda said, 'Let no creature be afraid; as ye are in a fright at the sight of my terrible form, I shall diminish my energy.'' ।। 1-21-2 ।।

english translation

yatra sA vinatA tasmina paNitena parAjitA atIva duHkhasaMtaptA dAsI bhAvama upAgatA || 1-21-2 ||

ततः कदा चिद विनतां परवणां पुत्र संनिधौ काल आहूय वचनं कद्रूर इदम अभाषत ।। १-२१-३ ।।

Later, in the proximity of her son, Kadru called upon Vinata and conveyed the following message at a particular moment.

tataH kadA cida vinatAM paravaNAM putra saMnidhau kAla AhUya vacanaM kadrUra idama abhASata || 1-21-3 ||

नागानाम आलयं भद्रे सुरम्यं रमणीयकम समुद्रकुक्षाव एकान्ते तत्र मां विनते वह ।। १-२१-४ ।।

sanskrit

'In the presence of her son, Kadru addressed Vinata with these words, "O gentle Vinata, there lies in a distant part of the ocean a charming and beautiful realm inhabited by the Nagas. Take me there!"' ।। 1-21-4 ।।

english translation

nAgAnAma AlayaM bhadre suramyaM ramaNIyakama samudrakukSAva ekAnte tatra mAM vinate vaha || 1-21-4 ||

ततः सुपर्णमाता ताम अवहत सर्पमातरम पन्नगान गरुडश चापि मातुर वचनचॊदितः ।। १-२१-५ ।।

sanskrit

'At this, that mother of the bird of fair feathers bore (on her shoulders) the mother of the snakes. And Garuda also,directed by his mother's words, carried (on his back) the snakes.' ।। 1-21-5 ।।

english translation

tataH suparNamAtA tAma avahata sarpamAtarama pannagAna garuDaza cApi mAtura vacanacòditaH || 1-21-5 ||
