दृष्ट्वा च तां वरारॊहां चकमे चैत्रवाहिनीम अभिगम्य च राजानं जञापयत सवं परयॊजनम तम उवाचाथ राजा स सान्त्वपूर्वम इदं वचः ॥ १-२०७-१६ ॥
'Upon seeing the beautiful daughter of Chitravahana, Arjuna desired to marry her. He approached the king, her father, and expressed his intention.' ॥ 1-207-16 ॥

राजा परभंकरॊ नाम कुले अस्मिन बभूव ह अपुत्रः परसवेनार्थी तपस तेपे स उत्तमम ॥ १-२०७-१७ ॥
'Upon hearing this, the king spoke to him in gentle tones, "In our lineage, there was once a childless king named Prabhanjana. He performed rigorous ascetic penances to obtain a child.' ॥ 1-207-17 ॥

उग्रेण तपसा तेन परणिपातेन शंकरः ईश्वरस तॊषितस तेन महादेव उमापतिः ॥ १-२०७-१८ ॥
'O Partha, through his intense asceticism, he pleased Mahadeva, the god of gods and the husband of Uma, the supreme Lord who wields the mighty bow named Pinaka.' ॥ 1-207-18 ॥

स तस्मै भगवान परादाद एकैकं परसवं कुले एकैकः परसवस तस्माद भवत्य अस्मिन कुले सदा ॥ १-२०७-१९ ॥
'The illustrious Lord granted him the boon that each successive descendant of his lineage would have only one child. As a result of this boon, each successive descendant of our lineage has only one child.' ॥ 1-207-19 ॥

तेषां कुमाराः सर्वेषां पूर्वेषां मम जज्ञिरे कन्या तु मम जातेयं कुलस्यॊत्पादनी धरुवम ॥ १-२०७-२० ॥
'All my ancestors, one after another, had a male child. However, I have only a daughter to carry on my lineage.' ॥ 1-207-20 ॥
