पुत्रॊ ममेयम इति मे भावना पुरुषॊत्तम पुत्रिका हेतुविधिना संज्ञिता भरतर्षभ ॥ १-२०७-२१ ॥
'Nevertheless, O noble among men, I always regard this daughter of mine as my son.' ॥ 1-207-21 ॥

एतच छुल्कं भवत्व अस्याः कुलकृज जायताम इह एतेन समयेनेमां परतिगृह्णीष्व पाण्डव ॥ १-२०७-२२ ॥
'O descendant of Bharata, I have officially designated her as a Putrika. Therefore, one shall carry on my lineage among the sons she bears from you, O Bharata. That son shall be the dower for whom I give away my daughter. O son of Pandu, if you agree, you may take her under these conditions.' ॥ 1-207-22 ॥

स तथेति परतिज्ञाय कन्यां तां परतिगृह्य च उवास नगरे तस्मिन कौन्तेयस तरिहिमाः समाः ॥ १-२०७-२३ ॥
'Hearing these words from the king, Arjuna accepted them all, saying, 'So be it.' Marrying Chitravahana's daughter, Arjuna stayed in that city for three years. When Chitrangada finally gave birth to a son, Arjuna lovingly embraced the beautiful princess. After bidding farewell to the king, her father, he resumed his wanderings.' ॥ 1-207-23 ॥
