तेजॊ ऽंशानां च संघाताद भीष्मस्याप्य अत्र संभवः राज्यान निवर्तनं चैव बरह्मचर्य वरते सथितिः ॥ १-२-७८ ॥
' In this parva is also narrated the birth of Bhishma uniting in himself portions of the energies of the other Vasus, his renunciation of royalty and adoption of the Brahmacharya mode of life,' ॥ 1-2-79 ॥
