' The partial incarnations of deities, the generation of Danavas and Yakshas of great prowess.' ।। 1-2-76 ।।

' The origin of snakes and serpents, as well as the king of birds (Garuda),And the diverse manifestations of other beings, including Gandharvas and celestial beings, is presented.' ।। 1-2-77 ।।

nAgAnAma atha sarpANAM gandharvANAM patatriNAma anyeSAM caiva bhUtAnAM vividhAnAM samudbhavaH || 1-2-77 ||

' In this parva is also narrated the birth of Bhishma uniting in himself portions of the energies of the other Vasus, his renunciation of royalty and adoption of the Brahmacharya mode of life,' ।। 1-2-79 ।।
