आपाने पानगलिता दैवेनाभिप्रचॊदिताः एरका रूपिभिर वज्रैर निजघ्नुर इतरेतरम
' Impelled by destiny and influenced by a divine force, they, with Eraka grass transformed into thunderbolts, fatally struck each other in mutual combat.' ॥ 1-2-221 ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptयत्र सर्वक्षयं कृत्वा ताव उभौ राम केशवौ नातिचक्रमतुः कालं पराप्तं सर्वहरं समम ॥ १-२-२२२ ॥
'In this tragic turn of events, both Balarama and Kesava (Krishna), despite orchestrating the demise of their own lineage, found themselves subject to the inexorable dominion of all-devouring Time when their destined hour arrived.' ॥ 1-2-222 ॥

yatra sarvakSayaM kRtvA tAva ubhau rAma kezavau nAticakramatuH kAlaM parAptaM sarvaharaM samama ॥ 1-2-222 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयत्रार्जुनॊ दवारवतीम एत्य वृष्णिविनाकृताम दृष्ट्वा विषादम अगमत परां चार्तिं नरर्षभः ॥ १-२-२२३ ॥
' Subsequently, Arjuna the foremost among men, going to Dwaravati (Dwaraka) and seeing the city destitute of the Vrishnis was much affected and became exceedingly sorry.' ॥ 1-2-223 ॥

yatrArjunò davAravatIma etya vRSNivinAkRtAma dRSTvA viSAdama agamata parAM cArtiM nararSabhaH ॥ 1-2-223 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस सत्कृत्य यदुश्रेष्ठं मातुलं शौरिम आत्मनः ददर्श यदुवीराणाम आपने वैशसं महत ॥ १-२-२२४ ॥
' Respecting his esteemed maternal uncle Shura, the finest among the Yadus, Arjuna witnessed the grand gathering of the valiant Yadava warriors in the city.' ॥ 1-2-224 ॥

' Subsequently, he orchestrated the funeral rites for the venerable Krishna and Balarama, as well as for the prominent members of the esteemed Vrishni lineage.' ॥ 1-2-225 ॥
