परसुप्तान निशि विश्वस्तान यत्र ते पुरुषर्षभाः पाञ्चालान सपरीवाराञ जघ्नुर दरौणिपुरॊगमाः ।। १-२-१८१ ।।

'Accompanied by Kritavarman and Kripa, Aswatthama mercilessly slew all the sons of Draupadi, along with the unsuspecting Panchalas led by Dhrishtadyumna and their kinsmen. This ruthless act occurred under the cover of night, catching them off guard and defenseless..' ।। 1-2-181 ।।
