[वै] परतिगृह्य तु तद वाक्यं नृपं सर्वे परणम्य च परतस्थिरे ततॊ घॊरं वनं तन मनुजर्षभाः अर्धं राज्यस्य संप्राप्य खाण्डव परस्थम आविशन ॥ १-१९९-२६ ॥

'Vaisampayana continued, 'Concurring with Dhritarashtra's proposal, those heroic men, after worshipping the king, departed from Hastinapura. Satisfied with their share of the kingdom, they settled in Khandavaprastha, which was then a wild and uninhabited wilderness.' ॥ 1-199-26 ॥

[vai] paratigRhya tu tada vAkyaM nRpaM sarve paraNamya ca paratasthire tatò ghòraM vanaM tana manujarSabhAH ardhaM rAjyasya saMprApya khANDava parasthama Avizana ॥ 1-199-26 ॥

ततस ते पाण्डवास तत्र गत्वा कृष्ण पुरॊगमाः मण्डयां चक्रिरे तद वै पुरं सवर्गवद अच्युताः ॥ १-१९९-२७ ॥

'Therefore, the Pandavas, accompanied by Krishna, proceeded to that city and founded Indraprastha, which shone like heaven itself, O infallible one.' ॥ 1-199-27 ॥

'Those mighty car warriors, with the assistance of Dwaipayana, selected a sacred and auspicious region. They performed propitiatory ceremonies and measured out a piece of land for their city.' ॥ 1-199-28 ॥

'Adorned with moats resembling the ocean and fortified with ramparts, it stood as if it reached the heavens.' ॥ 1-199-29 ॥

'White as fleecy clouds or moonbeams, that foremost of cities shone resplendently, resembling Bhogavati, the capital of the nether kingdom, adorned with Nagas.' ॥ 1-199-30 ॥
