[ग] एवम उक्तस तदा पार्थ विश्वामित्रॊ बलाद इव हंसचन्द्र परतीकाशां नन्दिनीं तां जहार गाम ॥ १-१६५-२१ ॥
'The Gandharva continued, 'With Vasishtha's words thus spoken, Viswamitra, O Partha, forcefully seized Nandini, the cow white as a swan or the moon.' ॥ 1-165-21 ॥
english translation
[ga] evama uktasa tadA pArtha vizvAmitrò balAda iva haMsacandra paratIkAzAM nandinIM tAM jahAra gAma ॥ 1-165-21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकशा दण्डप्रतिहता काल्यमाना ततस ततः हम्भायमाना कल्याणी वसिष्ठस्याथ नन्दिनी ॥ १-१६५-२२ ॥
'He attempted to take her away, inflicting stripes and subjecting her to other forms of persecution. The innocent Nandini then began to low pitifully, O Partha, and approached the illustrious Vasishtha, standing before him with an uplifted face.' ॥ 1-165-22 ॥

kazA daNDapratihatA kAlyamAnA tatasa tataH hambhAyamAnA kalyANI vasiSThasyAtha nandinI ॥ 1-165-22 ॥

'Despite being cruelly persecuted, she steadfastly refused to leave the Rishi's hermitage.' ॥ 1-165-23 ॥

AgamyAbhimukhI pArtha tasthau bhagavada unmukhI bhRzaM ca tADyamAnApi na jagAmAzramAta tataH ॥ 1-165-23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscript[वस] शृणॊमि ते रवं भद्रे विनदन्त्याः पुनः पुनः बलाद धृयसि मे नन्दिक्षमावान बराह्मणॊ हय अहम ॥ १-१६५-२४ ॥
'Seeing her distress, Vasishtha said, "O gentle one, I hear your cries as you low repeatedly. But, Nandini, even though Viswamitra is forcibly taking you away, what can I do? I am a forgiving Brahmin."' ॥ 1-165-24 ॥

[vasa] zRNòmi te ravaM bhadre vinadantyAH punaH punaH balAda dhRyasi me nandikSamAvAna barAhmaNò haya ahama ॥ 1-165-24 ॥

'The Gandharva continued, 'Then, O descendant of Bharata, Nandini, frightened by the sight of Viswamitra's troops and terrified by Viswamitra himself.' ॥ 1-165-25 ॥
