ततस तस्मिन गिरिवरे शुचिर भूत्वा कृताञ्जलिः आरिराधयिषुः सूर्यं तस्थाव ऊर्ध्वभुजः कषितौ ॥ १-१६२-११ ॥
'Purifying himself thoroughly, he then sat upon that prominent peak and, with hands folded and face upturned, began to worship the Sun God, Surya.' ॥ 1-162-11 ॥

tatasa tasmina girivare zucira bhUtvA kRtAJjaliH ArirAdhayiSuH sUryaM tasthAva UrdhvabhujaH kaSitau ॥ 1-162-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptजगाम मनसा चैव वसिष्ठम ऋषिसत्तमम पुरॊहितम अमित्रघ्नस तदा संवरणॊ नृपः ॥ १-१६२-१२ ॥
'King Samvarana, the vanquisher of all enemies, also contemplated his chief priest Vasishtha, the greatest of sages.' ॥ 1-162-12 ॥

jagAma manasA caiva vasiSThama RSisattamama puròhitama amitraghnasa tadA saMvaraNò nRpaH ॥ 1-162-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनक्तं दिनम अथैकस्थे सथिते तस्मिञ जनाधिपे अथाजगाम विप्रर्षिस तदा दवादशमे ऽहनि ॥ १-१६२-१३ ॥
'The king remained seated there continuously, day and night, without interruption. On the twelfth day, the Brahmin sage Vasishtha arrived.' ॥ 1-162-13 ॥

naktaM dinama athaikasthe sathite tasmiJa janAdhipe athAjagAma viprarSisa tadA davAdazame 'hani ॥ 1-162-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस विदित्वैव नृपतिं तपत्या हृतमानसम दिव्येन विधिना जञात्वा भावितात्मा महान ऋषिः ॥ १-१६२-१४ ॥
'This great sage, whose soul was under perfect control, immediately discerned, through his ascetic power, that the monarch had lost his senses due to Tapati.' ॥ 1-162-14 ॥

sa viditvaiva nRpatiM tapatyA hRtamAnasama divyena vidhinA jaJAtvA bhAvitAtmA mahAna RSiH ॥ 1-162-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतथा तु नियतात्मानं स तं नृपतिसत्तमम आबभाषे स धर्मात्मा तस्यैवार्थ चिकीर्षया ॥ १-१६२-१५ ॥
'Understanding the situation, the virtuous and greatest of sages, desiring to aid the king who was steadfast in his observance of vows, spoke to him, offering reassurance.' ॥ 1-162-15 ॥
