कूर्मेण तु तथेत्य उक्त्वा पृष्ठम अस्य समर्पितम तस्य शैलस्य चाग्रं वै यन्त्रेणेन्द्रॊ ऽभयपीडयत ॥ १-१६-११ ॥
'The Tortoise-king agreed, and Indra contrived to place the mountain on the former's back.' ॥ 1-16-11 ॥
english translation
kUrmeNa tu tathetya uktvA pRSThama asya samarpitama tasya zailasya cAgraM vai yantreNendrò 'bhayapIDayata ॥ 1-16-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमन्थानं मन्दरं कृत्वा तथा नेत्रं च वासुकिम देवा मथितुम आरब्धाः समुद्रं निधिम अम्भसाम अमृतार्थिनस ततॊ बरह्मन सहिता दैत्यदानवाः ॥ १-१६-१२ ॥
'And the gods and the Asuras made of Mandara a churning staff and Vasuki the cord, and set about churning the deep for amrita.' ॥ 1-16-12 ॥
english translation
manthAnaM mandaraM kRtvA tathA netraM ca vAsukima devA mathituma ArabdhAH samudraM nidhima ambhasAma amRtArthinasa tatò barahmana sahitA daityadAnavAH ॥ 1-16-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएकम अन्तम उपाश्लिष्टा नागराज्ञॊ महासुराः विबुधाः सहिताः सर्वे यतः पुच्छं ततः सथिताः ॥ १-१६-१३ ॥
'At one end, the mighty demons, accompanied by celestial beings, find refuge under the embrace of the serpent king; their collective presence extends from that point to the very tip of his tail.' ॥ 1-16-13 ॥

ekama antama upAzliSTA nAgarAjJò mahAsurAH vibudhAH sahitAH sarve yataH pucchaM tataH sathitAH ॥ 1-16-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअनन्तॊ भगवान देवॊ यतॊ नारायणस ततः शिर उद्यम्य नागस्य पुनः पुनर अवाक्षिपत ॥ १-१६-१४ ॥
'The infinite Lord, the divine Narayana, from whom the serpent (Ananta) originates,Raises his head, and repeatedly hurls it downward once again.' ॥ 1-16-14 ॥

anantò bhagavAna devò yatò nArAyaNasa tataH zira udyamya nAgasya punaH punara avAkSipata ॥ 1-16-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवासुकेर अथ नागस्य सहसाक्षिप्यतः सुरैः सधूमाः सार्चिषॊ वाता निष्पेतुर असकृन मुखात ॥ १-१६-१५ ॥
'Due to the extensive pulling exerted by both gods and Asuras, Vasuki's mouth emitted black vapors intertwined with flames.' ॥ 1-16-15 ॥
