ते धूमसंघाः संभूता मेघसंघाः सविद्युतः अभ्यवर्षन सुरगणाञ शरमसंताप कर्शितान ॥ १-१६-१६ ॥
'These turned into clouds charged with lightning, poured showers that refreshed the tired gods.' ॥ 1-16-16 ॥
english translation
te dhUmasaMghAH saMbhUtA meghasaMghAH savidyutaH abhyavarSana suragaNAJa zaramasaMtApa karzitAna ॥ 1-16-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्माच च गिरिकूटाग्रात परच्युताः पुष्पवृष्टयः सुरासुरगणान माल्यैः सर्वतः समवाकिरन ॥ १-१६-१७ ॥
'And flowers that also fell on all sides of the celestials from the trees on the whirling Mandara, refreshed them.' ॥ 1-16-17 ॥

tasmAca ca girikUTAgrAta paracyutAH puSpavRSTayaH surAsuragaNAna mAlyaiH sarvataH samavAkirana ॥ 1-16-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptबभूवात्र महाघॊषॊ महामेघरवॊपमः उदधेर मथ्यमानस्य मन्दरेण सुरासुरैः ॥ १-१६-१८ ॥
'Then, O Brahmana, a resounding roar echoed from the depths, akin to the thunderous roar of clouds heralding the Universal Dissolution.' ॥ 1-16-18 ॥

babhUvAtra mahAghòSò mahAmegharavòpamaH udadhera mathyamAnasya mandareNa surAsuraiH ॥ 1-16-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्र नाना जलचरा विनिष्पिष्टा महाद्रिणा विलयं समुपाजग्मुः शतशॊ लवणाम्भसि ॥ १-१६-१९ ॥
'Numerous aquatic creatures, crushed beneath the immense mountain, succumbed in the salt waters.' ॥ 1-16-19 ॥

tatra nAnA jalacarA viniSpiSTA mahAdriNA vilayaM samupAjagmuH zatazò lavaNAmbhasi ॥ 1-16-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवारुणानि च भूतानि विविधानि महीधरः पातालतलवासीनि विलयं समुपानयत ॥ १-१६-२० ॥
'The bearer of the earth (Lord Varaha) caused various beings, both terrestrial and aquatic, residing in the netherworlds, to merge and dissolve.' ॥ 1-16-20 ॥
